Fashion Design Program Emphasizes Sustainability Following SDGs

Fashion Design Program, School of Fine and Applied Arts, reinforces its operational stance on Fashion Sustainability—a crucial principle that all sectors must recognize. The program has continuously integrated sustainability concepts into its curriculum and teaching, inviting sustainability experts as guest speakers to educate students over the past 3 years. This includes creating partnerships with leading fashion industry partners to enhance students' experience and perspectives on sustainable design.Notable collaborations include:

SC Grand X BU: Textiles for Living - A project in the Textiles Design course for 2nd-year students to experiment with recycled fibers in creating woven fabrics in class, conducted continuously for the past 3 years.

The Mall Group – THE REBORN: BU X EMP A Sustainable VMD Project - Elevating the upcycling of unused vinyl advertising materials from The Emporium shopping center and affiliated centers into fashion design and art works.

Chantasia Collaboration Project - Partnering with the French lingerie brand Chantelle's manufacturing company, having 4th-year students create fashion from leftover fabrics and materials from actual production processes. This project continues for its 2nd year, building on previous collaborations in Fashion Innovation courses within the program, making this partnership span over 3 years.

Furthermore, efforts to promote deep learning in sustainable design have resulted in many students choosing to work on senior projects related to upcycling and resource optimization

Fashion Design Program continues to "Continue Commitment, Move Forward Continuously, Step Towards Sustainable Fashion" to cultivate new designers with vision, creativity, and responsibility toward society and the environment, ready to be a driving force in moving the fashion industry towards a sustainable future, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
