BUXDib Bangkok Launches "Art Beyond Canvas" Course to Develop Art Management Specialists

As the art and design industry is experiencing tremendous growth and becoming a significant driver of the global economy, the demand for personnel with expertise in art management continues to rise. To meet this demand, the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, Bangkok University has collaborated with the Dib Bangkok International Contemporary Art Museum to offer a special training course "Art Beyond Canvas: Management in Art Industry" designed to prepare participants to efficiently manage art projects through learning from real industry experts and internships with leading art organizations.


The Art Beyond Canvas: Management in Art Industry course is comprehensively designed with 42 hours of learning content divided into 3 main pillars: Contemporary Art & Visual Culture, Art Industry Foundation, and Management in Art Industry & Practice.


Additionally, participants receive 120 hours of professional experience through actual internships with leading partner organizations in the art world, including Bangkok Art Biennale Foundation, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre (BACC), Office of Contemporary Art and Culture (OCAC) Ministry of Culture, Tang Contemporary Art, Jim Thompson Art Center, Bangkok CityCity Gallery, VER Gallery, SAC Gallery, Nova Contemporary, Bangkok Kunsthalle, and ATTA Gallery. Upon completing the training course, participants can apply their knowledge to various careers in the art industry, such as Curator, Exhibition Manager, Exhibition Coordinator/Administrator, and Exhibition Designer.


This training program features distinguished lecturers from both domestic and international backgrounds. The first week of the course was honored by K. Miwako Tezuka, Director of Dib Bangkok Museum, who delivered the opening remarks, followed by an opening lecture by Dr. Mika Yoshitake, Senior Curator from Blum Gallery, Los Angeles, USA, on the topic "Transnational Curatorial Practices for Contemporary Japanese Art/Reflection on Yoshitake's Role as Curator, Curating for Institutions/Museums, versus Galleries."


The "Art Beyond Canvas: Management in Art Industry" course will serve as an important bridge for those seeking to pursue professional careers in the art world, equipped with knowledge, skills, and strong networks from world-class experts, forming a crucial foundation for developing Thailand's art industry to advance on the global stage.
