U Event Department Collaborates with Benjamabophit Dharma Center Driving the Happiness Train in "Chan Chara" Event to Deliver Smiles to the Elderly

Event Production and Exhibition and Conference Management, School of Communication Arts, in collaboration with Benjamabophit Dharma Practice Center, organized the "Chan Chara: Adding Happiness to Every Veranda" project to create interactions and promote professional skills for the elderly, enabling them to live meaningful lives while gaining new inspiration in a space of happiness and smiles at Benjamabophit Dharma Practice Center, Khlong Song District, Pathum Thani Province. Faculty members, students, and elderly participants joined the project in an atmosphere filled with smiles and warmth. The essence of this activity was not merely a typical social activity, but a genuine connection of smiles between two generations - new generation students and the elderly.
This project's happiness train began its journey from the first station at the circular plaza of the Communication Arts Complex Building, Bangkok University (Main Campus), through 2 activities:

- Activity 1: FLORAL BOND - Close to the Heart - A flower brooch-making workshop to create gifts representing care and concern that students brought to present to the elderly.

- Activity 2: GREETING CARDS - A flower greeting card design activity serving as a medium to convey positive feelings between students and the elderly. This activity was not only filled with smiles from new generation students but also raised a total donation of 5,921 baht.

The happiness train continued to its final destination "Chan Chara ON GROUND" at Benjamabophit Dharma Practice Center, Khlong Song District, Pathum Thani Province. Student groups and faculty from the Event Production program brought energy and creative ideas to fill this space with smiles for the elderly throughout the day through 5 activities:

- Activity 1: Arrange Flowers, Win Prizes - A game where elderly participants placed tokens on flower patterns on their papers to match given challenges for prizes.

- Activity 2: Ring Toss for Happiness - Elderly participants threw rings to land on designated flower bases to receive souvenirs.

- Activity 3: Fragrant and Gentle Hands - Enhancing fortune through flower sachets - a workshop making sachets from dried flowers with auspicious meanings to boost luck.

- Activity 4: Chan Chara Wellness Touch - Learning "Basic Thai Massage" from Aunt Pong, an experienced practitioner who provided knowledge and demonstrated Thai massage techniques, along with good tips for health care that can be applied in daily life.

- Activity 5: Chan Chara Golden Taste - Learning "Thai Dessert Making" from Mae U and Por Manoon, who taught closely and demonstrated for the elderly to make and taste delicious Thai desserts.

This Chan Chara happiness event had faculty, students from the Event Production and Exhibition and Conference Management Department, and elderly people from Khlong Song community and nearby communities participating - over 100 people total, who received warm welcome and positive response from the elderly.

This project is part of the study of course EDM401 Event and MICE for Corporate: Event Production and Exhibition and Conference Management for Organizations, which has learning outcomes that enable students to develop plans and produce corporate events and MICE according to professional standards. Additionally, students can apply methods and processes for designing events according to assigned topics to practical work, which will be beneficial for future work.
