BU Hosts Student Leaders Summit to Drive Organizational Sustainability

Bangkok University organized a seminar on "Strategies for Driving Educational Organizations Towards Sustainable Development Goals" for student leaders from Bangkok University and institutions within the APUT (Association of Private Universities of Thailand) network. The initiative aims to adopt best practices from APUT's pilot projects to develop student leaders with awareness and understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the role of educational institutions in driving sustainability.

Opening Remarks and Policy Direction
Asst. Prof. Sansern Milindasuta, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, delivered the welcome address and provided policy guidelines for SDG implementation. He emphasized adapting APUT's pilot project approaches to cultivate a new generation of leaders with sustainability consciousness.The event was honored by the presence of Dr. Nantana Chavasirikulton, President of Student Affairs of the Thai Association of Private Higher Education Institutions (TAPCU), who gave an opening speech and presented commemorative gifts.


Diverse and Engaging Activities
The seminar featured a rich variety of activities, beginning with a lecture on SDGs by Asst. Prof.Dr.Karnjana Songwathana, Dean, School of Economics and Investment at Bangkok University, followed by an SDGs Fashion Show by Fine and Applied Arts students showcasing designs that reflect sustainable development concepts.

Talk Session Highlights
A key highlight was the Talk Session on Sustainable Development Goals, led by K.Top Pipat Apiraktanakorn , founder of the ECOLIFE project and Asst. Prof. Dr. Natsupa Jaroenyingwattana, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Art. The session was moderated by A.Gunyootapong Nopakun , who helped students gain deeper insights and understanding of sustainability.



Additionally, there are SDGs Exhibition & Mini Workshop activities as follows:
- Workshop on transforming old fabric bags to create new value - bring old clothes to redesign in your own style
- Exhibition: Value-added fabric bags from the "FromAd Canvas to Creation: BUxEMP" project - designs created from leftover materials from Window Display installations in shopping centers
- Zero Waste Loop Workshop - learn how to reuse items that are no longer needed
- Board Games including Sustainable Settlement - build a sustainable community through board games from the Mae Fah Luang Foundation, Climate Change Bingo - learn about climate change through bingo games, and Golden Age - a board game about the golden years
- Jelly-making Workshop - generate income by BU Creative scholarship students
- Exhibition of works reflecting urban social issues
- Exhibition of collaborative works among faculties within Bangkok University, comprising the School of Communication Arts, School of Fine and Applied Arts and School of Architecture
- BU MILLIONAIRE Workshop - a financial planning board game for wealth building from the School of Economics and Investment
- Your Move For Earth booth - experience Immersive + Arts + Emotion



Project Presentation and Networking
The seminar concluded with student leaders from various universities presenting their SDG implementation frameworks.



Project Objectives
This initiative aims to:
- Enhance knowledge and understanding of SDGs and the role of educational institutions
- Provide a platform for exchange of leadership development and capacity building among student leaders from diverse institutions
- Build collaborative networks between educational institutions to develop activities and projects aligned with sustainable development goals
