HTM Elevates Student Competency through Thai Cuisine Professional Skills Testing

The Skills Testing Center of Bangkok University, under the management of School of Humanities and Tourism Management (HTM), in collaboration with the Skills Development Institute 14 Pathum Thani, organized the National Occupational Skills Standard Testing in "Thai Cuisine Preparation" Level 1 to enhance skills and certify student competencies before entering the labor market.
This testing is part of developing student potential in the Thai culinary profession, aiming to assess readiness in both theory and practical skills in accordance with standards set by the Department of Skills Development, Ministry of Labour. Test-takers were fourth-year students from Thai Cuisine (HM521) and Thai Dessert (HM522) courses, who had undergone training and preparation throughout the semester.

The testing was conducted under the supervision and evaluation of national-level experts in occupational skills standards. The test was divided into 2 main parts: the Knowledge Component to assess understanding of principles, theories, and hygiene requirements; and the Practical Skills Component, which evaluated hands-on culinary skills including taste, technique, presentation, and time management.
This activity reinforces Bangkok University's role as a Practical University committed to developing graduates who are truly ready for the professional world through hands-on learning and evaluation according to national professional standards. Obtaining the National Occupational Skills Certificate not only certifies competency according to international standards but also reflects the potential, confidence, and competitive capability of students ready to confidently enter the Thai food industry.
